What are Topgolf Leagues?

Topgolf leagues are a series of competitive golf tournaments held at Topgolf venues across the United States. These leagues allow golfers of all skill levels to compete against each other in a fun and social setting. The leagues are open to both individuals and teams, and they offer a unique way to experience golf.

How Do Topgolf Leagues Work?

Topgolf leagues are typically held over a period of eight weeks, with teams playing one round of golf per week. Each round consists of two games, with each game consisting of 20 shots. The team's score is based on the total number of points earned in both games. The team with the highest total score at the end of the eight-week season is declared the winner.

Topgolf League Formats

Topgolf leagues offer a variety of formats, including:

Stroke Play: In stroke play, each golfer plays their own ball and the winner is the golfer with the lowest score.

Match Play: In match play, golfers compete against each other on a hole-by-hole basis. The winner is the golfer who wins the most holes.

Scramble: In a scramble, each member of the team hits a shot, and the team chooses the best shot to play from. The process is repeated until the ball is holed.

Best Ball: In best ball, each member of the team plays their own ball, and the team's score is based on the lowest score of the team's members on each hole.

Topgolf League Handicaps

In Topgolf leagues, handicaps are used to level the playing field between players of different skill levels. A handicap is a numerical value that represents a player's skill level. Players with higher handicaps are considered to be less skilled than players with lower handicaps.

To determine a player's handicap, the league coordinator will typically use a formula that takes into account the player's average score, the difficulty of the target, and other factors. The handicap is then subtracted from the player's score to determine their net score. For example, if a player with a handicap of 10 scores 50 points in a game, their net score would be 40 points (50 - 10 = 40).

This allows players of different skill levels to compete on a more even playing field. Handicaps are updated regularly throughout the season based on the player's performance. This ensures that the handicap accurately reflects the player's current skill level.

In summary, handicaps are an important part of Topgolf leagues as they help to create a fair and competitive playing environment for all participants. By using handicaps, players of all skill levels can enjoy the fun and social aspects of Topgolf leagues while still being able to compete at their own level.

Topgolf League Scoring

Topgolf leagues use a scoring system that is based on the number of points earned for each shot. An Example Scoring System is as follows:

Hitting the target: 5 points

Hitting the bullseye: 10 points

Hitting a shot that sticks in the target: 20 points

Hitting a shot that sticks in the bullseye: 40 points

The total score for each game is the sum of all the points earned for each shot. The total score for the round is the sum of the two-game scores.
