To propel the ongoing expansion and enrichment of its indoor golf offerings, Five Iron Golf has announced securing a $20 million minority investment.

This investment comes from a growth equity fund co-founded by renowned restaurateur Danny Meyer, known as the founder and Chairman of Shake Shack, and the owner of esteemed New York City eateries such as Union Square Café, Gramercy Tavern, and The Modern.

As golf's popularity continues to soar—with a record 45 million Americans participating in golf-related activities in 2023—the synergistic efforts of these industry leaders are poised to drive even greater success and innovation in the realm of golf and entertainment.

What is Five Iron Golf?

Five Iron Golf, founded in 2017, has swiftly become a go-to destination for golf enthusiasts of all stripes. Renowned for its top-notch golf simulators, similar to those favored by professionals, Five Iron Golf offers much more than just a place to swing clubs. With some locations opening bright and early to accommodate early risers keen on squeezing in a round before work and providing leagues and lessons, the company caters to every type of golfer.

Five Iron Golf has expanded its footprint to encompass 24 locations across the United States, with its latest flagship establishment situated at Grand Central Station in New York City. This new venue boasts an impressive array of amenities, including 15 top-of-the-line golf simulators, two fully stocked bars, and inviting lounge areas equipped with engaging activities such as air hockey, billiards, and shuffleboard.

For Five Iron Golf, this marks the sixth addition to its roster of venues in New York City alone, where the company first took root in 2017. Since its inception, Five Iron Golf has steadily grown, branching out beyond Manhattan to cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and Seattle.

With a focus on merging cutting-edge golf simulation technology with a vibrant lounge atmosphere, each of the 24 locations offers a unique and dynamic experience for customers.

In a significant move towards expansion, the company secured a $30 million minority investment from Topgolf Callaway Golf Company in 2021 and initiated a franchising program the following year to facilitate further growth and accessibility.
